The Puma was one of the best garments that Montane ever produced, so is it possible to better it ? The Puma 2.0 certainly seems to defy the odds...
Trail Rating - The Finalist - 4 out of 5
The fabric is Polartec Thermal Pro with a hard face treatment, which makes it more water resistant than conventional fleece. The result is a garment that is exceptionally breathable and lighter than some other options. The fabric is more stretchy than most and warmer too, making it feel very comfy. There are 3 pockets and all are large enough for maps and easily accessible whilst wearing rucsac belts. You get stretch panels under the arm for a little extra freedom of movement a low tail and adjustable cuffs. Use this for hill walking and scrambling and it's ideal. The price is far more attractive than other softshells too.
Verdict
A superb piece of kit that pushes the definition of the soft shell genre, is ideal for hill walking and backpacking if you don't need more water and wind protection.
