Minus five Centigrade, bright sunshine and a deep frost greeted me this morning as I looked out with early morning bleary eyes. It's the third day in a row we've had a perfect wintery morning and it always puts a spring in my step as the cold weather makes my fingers tingle while they adjust to the temperature outside.
A nice warm duvet jacket or windproof fleece is ideal when there's no rain. But being Britain there's always a chance of change so what better to carry than a lightweight fully waterproof but breathable winter jacket that is small enough to pack into a map pocket and doesn't break the bank.
Thats where the Montane Velocity DT Jacket really comes into its own. MBR recently reviewed this jacket and awarded a remarkably hefty 9/10 for such a lightweight. The Montane Velocity DT Jacket was originally conceived as a biking jacket, walkers and climbers usually prefer a peaked hood which is included on the Montane Atomic DT version of the same Jacket and is the same price.

"At 254gms including the stuff sac there is never a reason not to carry a jacket as small and stowable as the Montane Velocity. A fleece beard guard and an offset cuff design that's sits neatly against the arm when fully open. Mesh lined pockets combine with the breathable Entrant fabric to keep the elements at bay. A great price and deserving of high accolades." MBR Dec 2007
