Once upon a time Swedish steel producer, Sandvik, were only famous in the UK for making brilliant wood saws. The steel was lightweight, incredibly tough and stayed sharp for ages... just what you need in fact in a great set of crampons. 20 years on and CAMP have taken up the gauntlet.

CAMP have taken the already very sophisticated Vector ice climbing crampon and re-manufacturered it in a strictly limited edition using Sandvik Nanotech steel. This makes for possibly the worlds most desireable ice climbing crampon with ultra thin steel making for greater penetration, lower weight and improved precision.

For the mere mortals among us for whom mountaineering doesn't involve scaling overhanging and impossibly fragile ice falls, CAMP have kindly incorporated the same steel into the tips of their ever popular XLC (extra light crampon) aluminimum crampon to get the best of both materials into a superbly practical crampon the XLC nanotech starting at just 490g depending on which attachment system you chose.

Climber Magazine Feb08 reviewed the Vector Nanotech and also gave it a big thumbs up - read the full review here
