"I wanna ride my bike" so sang Freddy Mercury - but I reckon he never had a Montane Velo jacket judging by the photo of the numerous naked cyclists that adorns the inside of the Jazz album cover who were clearly going for the minimalist approach by an entirely different means. more »

Minus five Centigrade, bright sunshine and a deep frost greeted me this morning as I looked out with early morning bleary eyes. It's the third day in a row we've had a perfect wintery morning and it always puts a spring in my step as the cold weather makes my fingers tingle while they adjust to the temperature outside. more »

With most manufacturers striving to acheive excellence with their products it's hardly surprising that very few items of hardware survive multiple seasons without at least one minor change of design to make them 'new and improved.' Little wonder then that most magazine reviews are about how a product has evolved from some earlier less-worthy incarnation. So how much more refreshing it is to see that CAMP (www.camp.it) has produced a near perfect product first time round in the shape of the 12 point Stalker Crampons which although having been around for a while have achieved a best value award from Trail Magazine. Trail Magazine Review of CAMP Stalker Crampons "the best value C1 crampon on the market"

Every six months or so, Pete, our salesman from Montane rolls up outside with the samples of the garments planned for the season after next. On goes the kettle and after a quick review and cuppa we settle into a serious 2 or 3 hours of looking at dozens of potential garments and their technical features and asthetic options. more »

My first lead was fairly uneventful but involved a steep learning curve. The rock at Pontesford just outside Shrewsbury is my favourite spot for a few quiet Sunday climbs in an idyllic setting. Beckoning was 120 feet of Oak Tree Wall, straight up an obvious crack which is a bit greasy lower down in the morning but is a great warm up climb that sets the day off to a great start. I donned harness and newly acquired pristine nuts in anticipation of this being fairly easy lead having top roped it on a previous visit. more »

The editor of Climb Magazine rang a few weeks ago to say he had received a letter from the owner of a Cassin Logic belay plate who needed the instructions. It wasn't possible to give a positive answer immediately as the Logic has been discontinued for sometime, however after a dig through the archives Cassin sent a copy. Download the Cassin Logic Belay Plate Instructions (1Mb) It is Cassin's committed intention to provide customers with information and service even long after the original date of sale that makes them a manufacturer that we are very proud to support. For the full range of Cassin products take a look at www.cassin.it Trade customers who would like to stock Cassin products can contact the UK distributor, ClimbhighUK via their website www.climbhigh.co.uk or via email at sales@climbhigh.co.uk Friday, August 31
