Q: Help, my airbed won't fully inflate and deflates slowly overnight, is it faulty?...
A: Probably not, the Ambience self-inflating airbed is one of the best you can buy and is made from very high quality heavyweight materials. So far we have only ever had one faulty unit in three years of selling these so they are proven exceptionally reliable.
If there is a leak/puncture somewhere on the main part of the bed it can be repaired with the patch which was included in the repair kit. To locate the leak, you might be able to hear a faint hissing near the puncture or you can also use some soapy water which will bubble up around the puncture. A pucture would not normally prevent the inflation of the bed unless it was a very significantly sized hole but might cause slow deflation when in use. To avoid punctures do not put sharp objects on or near the bed and always use a protective covering underneath particularly if using directly on the ground.
The most common cause of slow or difficult inflation / deflation problems is the air pump unit itself. Even if it sounds as though the pump is running okay, try replacing the batteries with new ones as even a slightly low power output can prevent the bed from inflating/deflating fully. The bed uses its internal air pressure to seal the non return valve so so may not be stay inflated if only partially inflated to begin with. New batteries nearly always fixes inflation/deflation problems.
You should also ensure that the pump is fully seated into position on the bed and leave it installed in the inflate position even after inflation. Do not be tempted to reverse the pump into the deflate position or remove the pump from the bed while using the bed, although this should be okay it can reduce the integrity of the automatic non-return air valve.
Finally, with the pump removed, check that there is nothing obstructing the air inlet valve on the bed itself as trapped dirt or fluff might prevent a good seal.
Just one other point - jumping, bouncing or landing heavily on any inflated device can cause extreme stress on some parts and welded seams and in some cases might even burst the fabric, damage caused by misuse will not be covered under the manufacturers warranty. Always lower yourself on to the bed in a controlled fashion and do not throw heavyweight objects onto it.
